Caring about the environment is patriotic.
Environmental journalist Jennifer Grayson is founder of The Red, White and Green. She has always been a tree hugger — literally. As a child, she got stuck in the top of a pine tree on a windy day and had to be rescued. A native of bucolic Connecticut, she developed a profound love for nature early on, rock hopping across streams and growing pumpkins in her backyard.
Inspired by working on the Obama campaign, she launched this site to advance the conversation about the ties between environmentalism and patriotism. She also writes The Huffington Post‘s regular green advice column (Eco Etiquette) and is regularly featured by media outlets including MSNBC, WGN, McClatchy, KPCC, PRN and Americablog. Her work has appeared in USA Today, Natural Health, American Baby, Wend Magazine and more.
The former model and opera singer also works on camera, most recently as an eco-correspondent for the weekly online show Abe’s Live, which has been described as “Whole Foods meets HSN.” Active on the speaking circuit, Jennifer has been in demand as both moderator and panelist at sustainability conferences and related events. She also provides green consulting expertise to small businesses and Fortune 500 companies alike.
Jennifer was recently named to the governing board of Climate Resolve, a high-profile organization connecting Los Angeles–area leaders and policymakers in the fight against climate change.
