Go see: The End of the Line

June 19th, 2009

Imagine a world without fish. So says the tagline for the powerful documentary The End of the Line, which opens today in theaters across the US. It’s not hyperbole, either. Scientists estimate that if overfishing continues at its current rate, we may see the end of seafood by 2048.

But it’s not all doom and gloom; by choosing sustainable seafood, encouraging our politicians to pass legislation that implements fishing quotas, and joining the campaign to make more of the oceans protected areas where commercial fishing is not allowed, we can allow fish populations to restore themselves.

I hear congress just passed a ground breaking bill for a .10% annual reduction in excessive fishing. By 2109 they are expecting this problem to be completely whipped!
