The Red, White, and GreenCaring about the environment is patriotic. What’s wrong with this picture?February 17th, 2009I’m sorry to keep singling out one particular women’s magazine (I won’t name it again, but if you click here you’ll see which one), but does anyone see the irony here? The editorial spread features model Angela Lindvall in eco-friendly fashions — “wear-forever classics with organic tanks, ‘green’ jeans, and sustainable shoes” — yet the opening shot shows her holding a disposable coffee cup. If a reusable travel mug would have ruined the aesthetic of the photo, couldn’t they have shot her sitting outside at some adorable LA cafe, ceramic mug in hand? To miss something this obvious is embarrassing. –Jennifer Grayson

Ooops, yes, that´s simply embarassing..but – I went to the link and saw the photo and this text belonging to it (desribing items model is wearing in the picture)
Eco-Chic Fashion
Jacket, price upon request, bracelet, $1015, bag, $1895, Chanel; top, $28, Alternative Earth; jeans, $69.50, Levi’s; sunglasses, $129, Ray-Ban.
So what is wrong? Chanel and eco-chic?! Have I missed something?!

Ha ha. No, you haven’t missed something — Chanel isn’t exactly known as groundbreaker in eco-conscious fashion. You could make the argument though, that investing in top-notch classics that will stand the test of time (like a Chanel bag) is an inherently greener choice than buying “eco-friendly” goods that may be made of synthetic materials (in the case of a lot of vegan fashion) and won’t be cool beyond next season.
